Candlewood Lake - Sherman, CT

Probably our best example of contextualism to date, this two bedroom guest house is tucked in the woods between a babbling brook and a 60 year old split leaf Japanese maple that we transplanted in order to build the dwelling. A true juxtaposition of rustic and modern. Some favorite elements of this project: the deck railing posts made of Home Depot lumber shelving, the covered entry rain chain, and the path to old stone steps by the brook.
